Overview

 On 1st April 1994,  Jagatsingpur got the recgnition of a district. It is situated at a distance of 60 kms. from Cuttack.. Biluakhai, Kusumi, Kuanria and Lunijhara rivers belong to this district.

ParadeepPort and fertilizer factory are in this district. Paradip, a modern deepwater port, was built in the 1960s, and has now become a hot business destination due to the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) in India as POSCO is setting up a plant along with its own port for transportation. Indian Oil Corporation has been trying to set up an oil refinery also.

IMPORTANT PLACES

Paradeep Port : It is the largest port of Orissa.

Sarala Temple : It is a famous temple of Jagatsingpur district where Goddess Saraswati is worshiped as Maa Sarala . Siddheswar Parida was changed to Adikabi Sarala Das due to the blessings of goddess Sarala. It is at a distance of 15km from Jagatsinghpur town.
