We the people of India

“We the people of India having solemnly resolved to construct India to sovereign socialist and secular democratic republic by granting justice to all…”

This is what the preamble of our constitution speaks. Indian constitution the supreme law of land keeps the basic purpose within it, to establish a class less society without having any economic or social disparity. While framing the constitution framers of it were with the dreams of constructing a developed India having no problem of poverty, sorrows and tears i.e. they were with the dream of constructing a class less society for modern India. By the passage of time this year we are going to celebrate 61th Independence Day in Indian republic. The same constitution is existing in our country with many amendments to satisfy better interests of our people. But state’s condition is some how very different today from the vision of that day. It is not that India has not developed rather in last few decades it has witnessed a number of great events like the green revolution, Industrial revolution and communication revolution through the process of leap frogging. Facing white revolution it has written the success story of Amul. India has now turned to one among the notable powers of world. Indian army is empowered with the nuclear weapons. It is now regarded as one among the best military powers of world. It has already created an international identity for it self. India’s sensex has already climbed a bench mark; GDP growth has already created a big boom. India has produced Mukesh Ambani the richest person of world. Its engineers have excelled in Information technology at world levels. It is one among the top IT developed countries of world. It has produced dedicated work culture loving people like Sabir Bhatia, Ajim Premji who sleep only few hours per day. In communication revolution it has justified the statement of Everett M. Rogers that is “India has reached from the level of bullock carts to the level of cyber marts.” Now investors have turned mad to invest here. India has grown as one among the biggest market of world. Saying in a nut shell India has already written many success stories. So after knowing about such a big number of success stories one may say it that there is no misery in life of common man of India. But this is not the reality. It’s not the face of real India, rather it is the face of an India which you may say the India of urban educated and developed people.

There is one more face of India too that is the face of our rural India which you may call as the India of villagers or India of farmers and working class by whose efforts we are seeing the huge mansions, shopping malls and luxurious hotels serving world class food. The tragic reality is that rural India has not developed a lot. Its condition has not developed. Till today the farmer has not got his rights. Due to delays in land reformations and lags in irrigation, till today the farmer is also weeping at the end of his field. Without getting true value for agro-based products, Indian farmer is committing suicide. According to the reports of Famous Indian Journalist P.Sainath in last 10 years nearly 1.5 lakh farmers have committed suicide with the burdens of loans from banks and private sectors. People In states like Orissa and west Bengal are now fighting against displacements. Due to rampant corruptions common man has started loosing his faith from the Government Baboos . People are drawing plans sitting in the Air-conditioned rooms without knowing the people for whom they are drawing plans. In many cases field realities are varying from the governmental reports. Every where middle men are looting. People in the poorest KBK districts of country are still struggling to arrange two meals a day. Till today the news of starvation deaths are coming on media. Panchayatiraj has also not yielded expected results. Illiteracy, Poverty, malnutrition, infant mortality are still the headaches of Indian Government. Funds are not getting properly used money is getting dumped at head quarters. Targets are not getting achieved. People’s sufferings are going on an increase. Rural urban contrast is increasing a great class difference is slowly getting created. The social and economic disparities are increasing. which is not a better sign for a healthy democracy. But why all these are happening in a country which has already gone successful in so many aspects? The answers may be many but the only thing which can be quoted from Daniel learner here that “Unless and until the farmer’s son gets a better dresses to go to better schools, unless and until his daughter gets the newest comb of market to design her hair before going to best school for better education avoiding the problem of poverty and social disparity, no society will get developed and the dream of Independence will remain far.
